Installation Guide

Solid glass bricks can be installed with transparent hybrid polymer adhesive for a seamless finish, or traditional mortar for classic masonry detailing. For large-scale or structural projects, mechanical reinforcement is recommended.

  1. Preparation

    Preparation

Ensure the substrate is level, clean, and dry. Mark out the layout with reference lines before laying the first course. Bricks can be cut to size with a continuous-rim diamond blade on a wet saw with water cooling.

  2. Transparent Adhesive

    Transparent Adhesive

Apply hybrid polymer adhesive (SMX technology, e.g. Soudal Fix All Crystal Clear) in dabs or continuous beads. Creates minimal joints for a refined, seamless glass finish.

  3. Mortar Installation

    Mortar Installation

Apply a polymer bonding primer to glass surfaces before mortaring. Use white glass-block mortar (polymer-modified Portland cement) with 10–12 mm joints. White mortar prevents discolouration through the transparent glass.

  4. Mechanical Fixing

    Mechanical Fixing

For large walls or structural applications, add reinforcing rods through pre-drilled holes or use L-bracket restraints at the perimeter.

Joint width
10–12 mm standard for mortar. 2–5 mm for adhesive, maintained with cross spacers.
Adhesive type
Hybrid polymer adhesive (SMX technology) for glass and heavy loads — crystal clear, flexible, non-yellowing. Not standard silicone. Not tile adhesive.
Reinforcement
Requirements depend on how many sides are supported. More restrained edges = larger panels possible.
● Freestanding (base only): reinforce above 1.5 m height.
● Two-sided: above 1.8 m.
● Three-sided: above 2.5 m.
● Fully framed (4 sides): larger spans possible — consult engineer above 3 m.
For exterior or load-bearing applications, always consult a structural engineer.
Brick orientation
Vertical orientation (5 cm thickness) for lighter partitions. Horizontal orientation (10 cm thickness) increases wall stability — allows taller panels before reinforcement is needed.

Pattern Library

10 tested bond configurations — 5 vertical + 5 horizontal. Each pattern shows brick count per m² for accurate ordering. All based on 200×100×50 mm bricks with 2-5 mm joints.
